Sticky Balsamic – Award-winning Food Innovation

Sticky Balsamic is the brain child of Lea Priest, an award-winning chef with over 20 years’ experience in the hospitality industry. Lea has won 3 Golden Plates for best café, and has worked at 1 and 2 hat restaurants around Australia, one of which was ranked the 21st best restaurant in Australia.

Lea’s first café was described as “one of the best cafes in the world” (Steven Downs food writer, Herald Sun 2008), and he has always taken pride in serving only the very best food wherever he has worked.

Lea has always enjoyed modern Australian cuisine and finding new food trends.  Sticky Balsamic was dreamed up as a way of enhancing the taste of food simply, as well as being an innovative new way of cooking and preparing food. Sticky Balsamic started when Lea required a particular taste to be added to one of his gourmet dishes. He created Sticky Balsamic and loved it so much that he decided to make it into a commercial product.

Sticky Balsamic has gone from strength to strength since it began in April 2015. Starting off at local farmers markets and later, other carefully selected events focusing on Australian handcrafted wares (such as Bowerbird Bazaar, Paris to Provence, Handmade Canberra, the Melbourne Design Market) and events focusing on foodies (such as Taste of Melbourne, Taste of Sydney, and the Good Food and Wine Shows across Australia), Sticky Balsamic has grown quickly and is present Australia-wide in select retail stores. We continue to live our values of Sticky Balsamic which include trust, honesty and respect. These values underpin all that the business does and how business is conducted.

Each bottle of Sticky Balsamic is carefully made by our chefs in our custom-built manufacturing facility, handcrafted in small batches using locally sourced fruit whilst ensuring that the product meets our high quality requirements. The vinegar (balsamic vinegar is made from the grape remains of the wine-making process) is carefully brewed for 22 hours which enhances the flavour of the fruit, resulting in the delicious flavours of Sticky Balsamic.
